"Mrs Robinson

"Mrs Robinson quilt, because I love the patterns and colors chosen and think ghat this piece is very aesthetically pleasing.

"Paris white ... striking image, more depth the longer you look at it, almost seems to move.

"Dear Newport Art Museum , You pose an interesting question. A work I might choose for my home might be quite different from one I might choose for display. I am a professional art historian. I have worked in museums as well as taught art history in tow colleges. For my home I would choose a work that appealed emotionally, could fit into our spaces, and had colors I liked. The one I like that you have on display is Endless Summer by Jodi Manca. I also like Jennifer Days grey painting, although I can’t figure where I would place it. Your collection of nineteenth century American paintings is a pleasure to see. Thank you so much, Candace Lewis

"Ethan Frenchpainting Bent And the photographs by GAIL fisher

"Sweet spot

"Kat O’Connor’s swimmer. It’s a personal reason: I love swimming and the architecture of big public swimming pools. I think this work has wonderful colors and captures the beauty under the water amazingly. Also the dynamic of the swimmer, she is moving, leaving me not sure why she is moving in this way, is intriguing.

— Helle

"Kat Conner, I Have Just Begun has intimacy-tension, humor, color, weirdness, and profundity. Kinda brilliant overall. Also most enjoy Kara Dunn, Pool house minus pool Frank Lotito’s, The Tulip Michael Peters’, Ancient Map

"Robert Avakian Either one of his “A Long Day’s Night” or “The House on a Hill.” Both paintings are a moment of quiet and calm, but I feel excited, too. That doesn’t really make sense, so I love them.

"I appreciated the colors in the McClear paintings - while I might appreciate several of the other pieces artistically, those seem the nicest to actually look at on a regular basis, especially as they depict usual household objects.

"Pains grey. It’s mesmerizing and can be looked at forever. Plus it has a modern feel.

"Rain 2019 Classic composition and traditional techniques elevate an everyday moment to a timeless memory. Looking at this painting will always take me back to the beach.

— Maelle

"I would choose Oracle by Nancy Sepe because it shows how our eyes and our ears are linked, because if you listen without the film it’s hard to tell what it is and if you just look it doesn’t look like you are fully expiriancing it. Also I think it’s cool to own art that isn’t just a painting.

"“The Lynx” by Kathy Hodge. I like the imaginative use of color and shapes that make the scene come alive while also illustrating the fleeting and exciting nature of that precise moment.
